Hall of Fame Gold Medalist, Mike Schlappi, will be a featured keynote speaker at the 2016 Electric Cooperative Symposium. His story begins with a tragic accident that evolves into a lifetime of lessons and victories.
At the age of 14, Mike was shot in the chest at point blank range by his best friend, paralyzing 2/3 of his body. But this careless, split-second event didn’t just happen to Mike; it happened to his family, friends, community, and even his future wife and children. In this powerful, entertaining and uplifting keynote, Mike will share his personal story, his Olympic medals, and the actual bullet that changed his life forever.
“I’m really excited to have Mike at the Symposium this year,” says Doug Snitgen, MECA Executive Vice President. “He’s been a regular keynote speaker at the annual Electric Cooperative Youth Tour in Washington, D.C., and the students are always incredibly inspired by his message.”
